On 20 April Dr. Joseph Bitar will be the guest speaker of the monthly Research Seminar organized by the Departments of Economics and of Finance Dr. Joseph Bitar is an adjunct professor of economics and finance at leading business schools in France, including PSB, NEOMA, SKEMA, and IESEG. He holds a PhD in Monetary and Financial Economics from Sciences Po Bordeaux in 2022. He is internationally renowned for his ground-breaking contributions to the analysis of dollarized monetary and financial systems. He has an extensive experience in asset management and investment banking at Société Générale in Paris and Dubai, and he was involved in real estate businesses in London and Dubai.

Dr. Bitar will present his paper “A note on reserve requirements and banks' liquidity” (available here), which assesses the efficiency of two alternative monetary policy tools on banks' deposits and loans interest payments, namely the reserve requirement and direct taxes.
