The Msc Hospitality and Tourism Management students attented the AccorHotels Meet Ups presenting their new concept for millennials.
For the second week of classes, students in the MSc in Hospitality and Tourism Management program had the occasion to discover more about the world of Hotel Business. They were invited by AccorHotels to discover, and be part of the launch of their new concept Joe & Joe.
This new concept is the new brand created for millennials that launched on the 29th of September, 2016.
The project manager introduced and explained all the details of the rooms and ambiance of those hostels. Joe&Joe’s concept is based on the needs and wants of young travelers. The idea is to create an attractive and cozy environment promoting direct interaction between the clients. They are focused on creating a community with a common lifestyle, new interior designs for people traveling in groups, and at a relatively low cost. The brand wants to break with the conventional ways of the hotel industry with rooms and apartments for two to five people, fully equipped and integrating shared areas.
The conference was clearly built to get the attention of the millennial audience as students could ask questions during the conference using their phones with a live chat. The conference was presented by young adults and in a quite relaxed atmosphere.
The students then met up with some important figures in the hotel industry such as Arantxa Balson, Talents & Cultures officer from the AccorHotels group who explained the main focus of the company such as:
- The values of the company
- The wish to hire young talents by giving them a chance to grow within the group
- 56% of the people that work at the Accor group are under 34 years old
- How the business focuses on human interaction
Arantxa Balson also spent some time with the students to give advice for their future careers in the hospitality sector.
