The business trip to London was a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about the financial activities in London.
Many visits within the banking industries were organized: a fixed income trader explained his job and the market making at Millenium Advisors; a VP at JP Morgan explained the activities in investment banking and how young graduates may succeed in joining this kind of investment bank; three managers at Exane (Equity market subsidiary of BNP Paribas) explained their different jobs, such as equity research, equity sales and trading, and compliance.
They also visited financial institutions: the bank of England with a presentation of the role of a central bank; or Lloyd’s building with an explanation of the role of underwriters and brokers in this building (and some specific insurance contracts such as the Titanic or the legs of famous actresses).
The students also enjoyed a guided tour of the City, which is a city administratively separated from London. It was also a great opportunity for students to visit touristic places, to gather together, and to have fun together.
