The Centre for Research on Energy and Climate Change (CRECC) at Paris School of Business is a research centre dedicated to advancing rigorous, interdisciplinary, and policy-relevant knowledge on the interconnected challenges of climate change, energy transition, sustainable finance, and geopolitical transformation.
Supported by Paris School of Business, CRECC brings together academic expertise, applied research, and international perspectives to better understand how societies, economies, firms, and institutions can navigate a rapidly changing global environment. CRECC seeks to understand the complex links between climate risk, energy security, economic development, financial markets, public policy, and geopolitical uncertainty; to innovate through evidence-based research and practical solutions; and to support transformation toward more sustainable, secure, resilient, and low-carbon futures.
Research Focus
CRECC examines a broad range of issues related to energy, climate change, sustainability, and finance. Its research covers renewable energy, nuclear energy, hydrogen, hydroelectric power, solar and wind energy, geothermal energy, bioenergy, energy storage, carbon capture and storage, low-carbon fuels, energy efficiency, carbon reduction strategies, climate finance, sustainable finance, green innovation, and electricity markets.
The centre also studies how energy systems can be developed, financed, regulated, and integrated in ways that are economically viable, environmentally responsible, and socially acceptable.
In today’s global environment, climate and energy challenges cannot be understood through technology alone. They are increasingly shaped by geopolitical risks, trade tensions, resource competition, tariffs, critical minerals, supply-chain vulnerabilities, maritime disruptions, and energy security concerns. CRECC therefore places strong emphasis on analysing how geopolitical developments affect the pace, cost, and direction of the energy transition.
Artificial Intelligence, Data and Strategic Decision-Making
CRECC also explores the role of artificial intelligence, data science, and digital technologies in climate, energy, and geopolitical research. As climate and energy systems become increasingly complex, AI offers powerful tools to analyse large datasets, model uncertainty, identify emerging risks, and support better-informed strategic decisions.
