The objective of the business excursion day was to become deeply familiar with business culture and learn from experts. It was a great opportunity to experience the business environment and visit the home of many international businesses and brands.
First stop was a presentation at the Franco-British Chamber of Commerce which was followed by a question & answer session. This gave the Master students the opportunity to discover the intricacies of French business from an Anglo-Saxon point of view.
Students then headed to La Défense - the major business hub in Paris.
The walking tour began at La Grande Arche de la Défense, down the steps to the CNIT hangar building, past the central water fountains, and finally to the vineyards which grace the esplanade.
During this tour, the students discovered the history of France’s premier finance district, the strategy of the architects, the integration of contemporary open-air art, and the corporate stories that have made La Defense famous around the globe today.
Business & Finance Professor Ellen Kountz pointed out and discussed over 35 flagship company headquarters during the tour and gave students insight about their strategic positioning in France’s business financial marketplace.
