On December 14th, 2010 our long-time Marketing Professor Desmond McGetrick was awarded the title of Visiting Professor at the Fachhochschule Kufstein, also known as the University of Applied Sciences in Austria by the board of directors. Professor McGetrick has been lecturing at this university for several years.
He is one of the few visiting professors given the opportunity to deliver a public lecture, in attendance were faculty members, students, administration, and the general public. As Professor McGetrick’s specialty is marketing, his lecture was entitled “What I Hate About Marketing”. During his lecture, McGetrick took the opportunity to mention Paris School of Business. Here is an excerpt from his speech.
We see ourselves as an autonomous, independent and international university of applied sciences. The educational and research program is developed in accordance with international standards. The integration of theory and practice as an essential part of our teaching ensures that the education our students receive is innovative and oriented towards the future, and thus in line with the demands of the economy and society. Our international network with 150 partner universities allows lecturers and students to participate in exchanges studying or teaching abroad, which results in a transfer of knowledge across all borders. We stand for internationalism, mobility and multiculturalism. Our endeavors have their roots in a service culture that is based on mutual trust. We see ourselves to be a builder of bridges between science and practice, and thus contribute to the transnational development of society as well as the sustainable development of the location Kufstein/Tyrol.
Desmond brings more than a dozen years experience from the world of the Multinational Enterprise (MNE) to his business school teaching at Paris School of Business, and holds a Master of Business Administration from Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées (Paris - Dehli - Shanghai - San Francisco) in addition to a Bachelor of Commerce from University College Dublin.
